Waterfront-night

Louise and Erik are lying on the blanket wrapped underneath them. 

Louise has her head on Erik’s chest. 

The candles are beside them as the basket is beside them. 

Erik opens his eyes and looks at his watch.

ERIK

Louise, dear I have to go soon. (sadness)

Louise opens her eyes and turns her head as she puts her chin on his shoulder.

LOUISE

Oh, Erik. I guess we were really tired. Will you meet me again tomorrow night? (worried)

Louise gets up from Erik and sits beside him.

ERIK

Yes, I will. I love you, my dear. You must keep our secret though because if people find out I am really here. I don’t know what they’d do. (serious)

Erik touches Louise’s chin with his hand. 

ERIK

 CONT.

Most importantly, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to see your beautiful face again.

Erik leans towards Louise and kisses her left cheek than stands up.

Erik then reaches his hand toward

 Louise.

Louise grabs Erik’s hand as he helps her up to stand up. 

Louise then drops her hand and looks to the other side.

LOUISE

Erik, my dear I’m so sorry. I told the priest. I think (startles) I guess that’s how I got the job. I’m so sorry I was so happy to see you; words had the best of me.

ERIK

My love. Look at me.

Erik puts his hand on Louise’s chin.

ERIK CONT.

I’m not angry with you, I’m proud of you. You got a job and that is special, just as you are. I will see you tomorrow, under the moonlight.

Erik hugs and kisses Louise.

(close up) Louise waving her hand at Erik.

LOUISE

Our love will continue under the moonlight. I love you, my angel of darkness.

Louise folds her blanket and puts it in the angel basket. Louise’s picks up the candles and puts them on the blanket in the basket. Louise stands up and lies to sleep on her bench looking at the sky.

Church- midday

Jessica walks through the door towards Louise and sits beside her on the piano bench.

JESSICA

Oh, how I missed you. I am so proud of you, but my parents

 wouldn’t let me come to church to see you. They heard about the fight and sent me away to boarding school. I just got back home now and I’m so sorry our fight ruined our friendship.  I hope we can still be friends again? (worried)

Louise puts her hand on Jessica’s shoulder. 

LOUISE

We just needed a break. Our friendship is forever just as my love for Erik.

Louise puts her hands on the organ and starts to play.

Jessica turns to Louise.

JESSICA

So what happened to the mask? Did you find the love you were searching for? (curious)

Louise

 continues to play. (looks worried)

LOUISE

No, your parents were right. I did make the story up. I made the mask myself and threw it away. You didn’t buy the story, so thought I didn’t need it which was true.

JESSICA

Well I am sorry to hear that you didn’t find what you were looking for. I am so glad we are best friends still. I will see you later I need to go finish unpacking. (excitied)

Louise stops playing the organ and waves at Jessica.

LOUISE

I’m glad that you’re back home and I’ll see you later. (sincere)

Church? midday

C.U Shot of the priest walking up behind her.

Priest puts his arm on Louise’s shoulder.

PRIEST

Wow, Louise you are getting better everyday. What would you say to playing the organ, but it will be a solo concert? (thoughtful)

Louise stares at the priest.

LOUISE

Really? I’d love that. (surprised)

PRIEST

Well you do sound like an angel. Speaking of angels, do you think Erik will be able to come? It will be at midnight, do you think Erik would be able to come? I can reserve the whole balcony for him.  I know how much you two love each other, so I’d like to see him there.

LOUISE

Well since it’s at night time and he’ll have the balcony to himself, I’m sure he’ll be able to.  I’m actually on my way to see him now, so I’ll let you know.

Louise walks up from the organ and heads toward the door.

LOUISE

Thank you, Father.

Louise walks out of the door.

Erik sneaks up behind Louise and puts a rose with a black bow on the bench.

Louise looks at the rose and then behind to see Erik smiling.

Louise touches Erik’s arm.

LOUISE

Oh my Erik. How I couldn’t wait till the stars shine, so I can see your beautiful face. Even if you didn’t have the mask on, I’d still love you.

Louise puts the rose on her lap as Erik sits beside her.

ERIK

You may think I don’t need this mask,but it’s all I have to hide from the world.

LOUISE

I know that’s how you feel, but I love you no matter how you look. Just remember

 that.

Erik grabs Louise’s hand and kisses it then lets it go.

ERIK

I never will forget.

LOUISE

I almost forgot to tell you that I have good news.

ERIK

What’s the good news?

LOUISE

Well my angel of music, since I have been playing the organ so well… The priest asked me if I’d like to do a show for everyone and I said yes. It will be tomorrow at midnight. He knows my love for you and said you could come, if you want. You could have the balcony to yourself.  Oh, my love will you come?

ERIK

I wouldn’t miss it for the world. We’ve been together for a month and if it’s at night I’m sure I’ll be able to see you perform. I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t.

LOUISE

I’m glad you’ll be there

ERIK

I’m so proud of you

 Louise.

LOUISE

I’m so proud of you Erik. Erik sits beside Louise as Louise lays on the bench with her head on his lap.

Erik kisses Louise’s forehead.

ERIK

Good night, my love

Waterfront Park (night)

Erik awakens.

ERIK

Louise, my love. Are you awake?

Louise opens her eyes.

LOUISE

Oh yes I am and I love waking up to see you there.

ERIK

So do I. So do I.

LOUISE

I guess you need to go soon before the sun rises. Jessica should be dropping by.

Louise sits beside Erik.

Erik holds Louise’s hand.

ERIK

I am so glad you and Jessica are friends again. How did you two meet?

Louise

Well I was laying on the bench all curled up in my cloak and Jessica accidently sat on me as she was crying.

ERIK

What was she crying about?

Louise

Well she told me she was crying because she was sad. she liked this guy and he played a joke on her. She went out for a month with him and found out today it was all for a bet. Everyone at school wanted to see how far she’d go with a guy and that’s why he stayed with her. He lost the bet because he thought she was easy and than everyone made fun of her and kicked her around. She was crying because she was an outcast and no one loved her. Nobody, she felt like a loner, (sad)

ERIK

Oh, poor Jessica.

Louise

I know. That’s why I told her about you. I hope you know that you are not alone, the way you feel. Have you ever heard of the Phantom, Erik? Jessica had no clue about you, so I told her. He is a legend. Why, you may ask. Well he heals the lost Souls by showing us that we are not alone. We are not the only ones who have felt pain, betrayed and a broken heart. We are not the only ones who this world has forgotten us and showed us cruelty.

ERIK

I never knew my story helped so many people.

Louise

Oh it has in so many ways. Well I told her your story since she didn’t know much, How you were born with a face that was

 half ugly. How your mother covered it up with a White mask after you where born and how you lived through so much pain that you could be the only one who could Understand anyone else’s pain. However, many people hated you though because you Killed people by an accident and was obsessed over a girl named Christine. I also explained to her how you Haunted the opera house and tried to get the girl you loved to love you through your music, but she didn’t. I told her why I loved you for you could be the only one who understood me and how we can be there for eachother in our misery.

ERIK

That is what we will do, but now we have love instead of pain.

Louise

Yes, that is right.

ERIK

So did she believe your story about me?

Louise

Yes, she did. She thought it was so amazing how there are others like her and that she is not alone in this

 world. She told me that her grandfather use to tell her stories too and that is one reason why we became friends. I guess, I reminded her of him.

ERIK

You did and see you have helped someone else too.

Louise

Yes, I know. That is why I’m so glad we’re friends again, I missed her so. We had an unbelievable link that tyed us together.

ERIK

I am so glad that you two are friends again and that my

 story has helped so many other people.

ERIK

I know and I’m glad the priest is letting you do this concert tonight especially Since he’ll let me see you. I’ll see you later tonight my love. Good Luck and congratulations.

Louise C.U.

LOUISE

Good bye my love, until tonight.

Church-night

(Fade in)

Wide Shot Front of church with a large lineup of people.

The church filled with an audience at Louise’s view.

Close up on Louise. 

Louise smiles at the Priest, Jessica and then the audience. The bishop is in the crowd watching over. Louise looks up at the empty  balcony and sees Erik sitting on the chair reserved with the rose in his hand. Erik smiles back

 at Louise as Louise winks and sits at the bench ready to play. The priest walks up the stairs and stand looking at the audience. 

PRIEST

This is Louise, a talented girl (points at Louise) who will be playing her debut. Many of you have seen Louise perform here before, now you can see her play here just for you. I hope you will enjoy the show. (proud)

(Smiles) The priest walks down the stairs as Louise starts to play. (Fade out) 

Scene 38

Police station Night

Erin and Derek are both beginner cops. They take orders from the head sheriff, Jeremiah Klin. They have been arguing with Jeremiah in why they are going after The Phantom who they all don’t believe exists. Jeremiah has left them a note to explain the situation.

Erik and Derek enter Jeremiah’s office. Erik and Derek look curious as they

 were given a note to go to the office to find out what they wanted to know.

Erik and Derek both look at each other after they enter the office.

ERIN

So you got a note to from

 Jeremiah?

Derek

Yes, I did. Jeremiah said there would be a note for us here on his desk.

Derek and Erin walk up to the desk. Derek grabs the note and sits down. He starts to read it as Erin is standing over him reading the note too.

(Note: Jeremiah is behind handwriting while he reads what he wrote)

JEREMIAH

Derek and Erin, it is Jeremiah.I know that I don’t need to explain myself to you, but since it is Interfearining with work, I must. I know that none of us believe that The Phantom exists anymore, but the priest is the only friend I have and he does. He states that he has seen him and has a plan to destroy him. The priest is angry because he spent his whole life searching for him thinking that if he finds him he would be his friend and would help him. Since he found him and knows how popular he is, he is full of rage and jealousy. He wants to destroy him

 instead of be friend him and since that is his wish, I do what he

asks even though it sounds like a wild goose chase. Even though we don’t agree, I am your boss and you need to listen. Since you know now why we are going after nothing, you two better stop bickering me and get to work! That is an order! I will see you at the church.

Derek crumbles the note and throws it in the garbage as it is a basketball. Erik looks at Derek.

ERIN

So what should we do?
