Scene 20

Waterfront Park-midday

 Louise walks up to her bench and sits down than looks at her watch.

LOUISE

Boy, am I tired. I’m going to go to sleep.

Louise lays on the bench and falls asleep. 

Medium Shot of sky. C.U Shot of Louise falling off bench. 

Louise gets up and sits back on the bench. 

LOUISE

Oh my goodness. What a nightmare I had. I thought someone was coming after me as though they were going to kill me. (crying in fear)

Louise starts to look around and then notices the mask on the ground. 

LOUISE

Erik. I wish you were here. (whispers to mask)

Louise holds up the mask and startles as she puts it on her face. A vision of a man with a cape hiding his face appears.

ERIK

I want my mask back!

Louise drops the white mask. (shock) She picks up the mask.

LOUISE

What just happened?  Should I try it again?  Maybe someone is trying to tell me something about Erik. (Worried)

Louise puts the mask on again and sees a vision of a man  with a cape hiding his face. 

ERIK

Please may I have my mask back? It’s my one and only beauty. Can I please have it back? (sad)

LOUISE

Is this Erik? Does this belong to you?

Then Erik disappears. 

Cut to sunset. Cut to sunrise.

Scene 21

Waterfront Park-day

Jessica comes towards Louise while she’s sleeping on the bench. 

Jessica holding a glass of water and another dish full of

 food.

LOUISE

I’ve been waiting for you to come. I have something amazing to tell you.

JESSICA

Oh me too, but it’s not good news. My mom and I had another fight.(sad)

Louise

Are you alright?

Jessica

I think so, but I’m still angry about it. I don’t know what she’ll do with me now. Anyways I need to take the fight off my mind. What happened? Did those guys come back and bother you?

Jessica sits beside Louise.

LOUISE

Oh no. I haven’t seen them again.

JESSICA

Then what did you

 see?(anxious)

LOUISE

The mask, for some reason I wanted to see what would happen if I wore the mask. Well I did and you wouldn’t believe it!

JESSICA

What?

LOUISE

Well I saw Erik. At least I think it was Erik. I saw someone who covered up there face with a black cape every time I put the mask on.

JESSICA

Yeah right. Are you joking? You expect me to believe that Erik came to you? Every time you put on that mask??? How is that possible? He’s dead and we don’t even know if he was real???

LOUISE

Yes, or at least I thought we did both believed he was real. I’d never  make this up Jessica I swear to you. I don’t know what to do next, I need your help.

JESSICA

What you’re going to do next? You’re crazy if you believe what you tell me is true.

 My mom was right. You’re a bad influence and you’re always making up stories. So than I’ll Stay friends with you. Good bye, I don’t want to see you again!!!

Jessica gets up and starts walking away from the bench.

LOUISE

Jessica! Wait! Wait! Don’t leave me. (Holding her hand out)

Jessica runs away crying from the scene.

Scene 22

 Waterfront Park-night

Louise is looking at the mask.(P.O.V)

Louise puts the mask back on bench as she walks back and forth.

LOUISE

I’m alone once again. I wish Erik was here. Why can’t People see what I do? He was real as long as you believe with just your heart and not what the world tells you. Why am I all alone? Oh Lord, I need to find out who this masked man is. Could it finally be my angel of darkness? I must find out. Please Lord give me the courage to find out if dreams really come true.

Scene 23

Waterfront- night

Louise picks up the mask and sits down on the bench.

She picks it up with shaky hands & puts it on her face.

Erik appears in front of her with black cape that covers his face. 

ERIK

I need it back! I need it

 back!

LOUISE

Is this Erik?

Louise turns and looks at Erik.

LOUISE

So how did I find this mask? I don’t remember? I wish I knew.(Confused)

ERIK

Louise, my

 dear, I know who you are and your story. Last night I saw you running away, running away from those two guys. I wanted to save you, so I put a hundred dollar bill on the ground. Than I hoped, they’d leave you alone. Lucky they noticed the money. Did they hurt you at all? Did my plan work?

LOUISE

So that was you? Yes, your plan worked.  You saved me long time ago too. That’s why you’re my angel of darkness. I thought you

 were dead. How can this be? Am I in heaven?

ERIK

Yes, I am alive. I am alive in your body, mind, heart and soul. That’s how I came back to phantom peak.

Erik puts his hand on Louise’s

 shoulder.

ERIK CONT.

When I died years ago, I was told that I could live on earth for those who dream of me. I’ve been their guardian angel for years, but I’m just a shadow without my mask. My mask fell off when I planted the money for those guys to leave you alone. I had to vanish before they saw me. I thought my mask would still be there when they left, but it was gone and I knew you found it. The only way I could talk to you was when you wore the mask, since

 you believed in me.

Erik puts his arm around Louise’s waist.

ERIK CONT.

For your heart is pure, I am able to get my mask back and stay alive. You are neither in heaven nor dead, we are both here and I hope you’ll always

 remember I will never leave you. I will never leave you.

LOUISE

Wow, I will never forget. You will always hold a place in my heart. Is there any way, (startles) can you meet me here again? Here under the moonlight?

ERIK

Since Christine Daaè, I never I could love anyone and since you do, I know what love is. In this lifetime and in this world you are my one and only love. So since I love you I will meet you under the moonlight, but you must not tell anyone. If you do I’ll have to go back to Heaven and watch you from afar, instead of under the moon light.

LOUISE

I won’t tell anyone our secret. You have always been my one and only love too. I love you my angel of music.

Louise and Erik both stand up. Erik grabs his cape.

ERIK

I love you too, Louise. You’re the only one who has ever loved me. So I will meet you tomorrow night. I need to go, but I’ll be with you.

Erik twirls with his cape around him then disappears.

Louise continues to stare at the

 stars.

LOUISE

He came to me in darkness and then left in darkness. Until tomorrow, our secret is as our love; it only belongs to us and us alone.

Louise lays back down on the bench and falls back to

 sleep.

Scene 24

Waterfront- day

LOUISE

Oh my love. I know last night was no dream. If it were the mask would be here. Although I have lost a friend, I found out dreams do come true. I must make my one and only love proud of me. I know what I need to do.

Louise stands up and starts walking.

Scene 25

Church- midday

Louise Opens door and walks in.

Louise walks up to the priest and taps his shoulder.

Priest looks at Louise.

PRIEST

You’re here early Louise.

Are you in trouble? (worried)

LOUISE

Well I am in a way. I have been coming to this church since I made Phantom Peaks my home. I need to ask you a favour. (shy)What happened to the bishop? How come he’s not here, is he sick?

Priest puts hand on Louise’s shoulder.

PRIEST

No he is busy attending other things. Let’s sit down and you can tell me how can I help you. Let’s sit down and you can tell me how can I help you.(curious)

Louise and the priest sit down.

LOUISE

I need to ask you for a job. Something, so I can have a place to spend during the day. I’m not asking for money just a job, I can work for some food. No money, just food. I can clean the benches for you and play the organ during the mass. I know you don’t have a musician yet and I am good. My father taught me well. I’ve wanted to ask you this for a

 while, but have been scared. Erik, The Phantom gave me the courage last night when I met him, can you please give me a job? (nervous)

PRIEST

Louise dear, we give you food kindly and a place to stay during the day. You don’t need to work for us, it’s not negotiable. (demanding) What do you mean you saw Erik?  In you dreams again? (thinking)

LOUISE

No, Erik is real and I saw him last night. Not in my dreams, but in person. I know I don’t need to pay you, but if I work it will make me a better person.

PRIEST

Well you can tell me more about your meeting with Erik while you work for me. You can start by helping me finish cleaning the benches.

LOUISE

Yes, father. Please don’t tell anyone about Erik though. I trust you.

The priest hands Louise a rag. 

As she grabs the rag Louise starts to clean the bench.

PRIEST

Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. You have always been like a daughter to me

LOUISE

You have always been like a father to me, so I will tell you what

 happened.

Cut to: Louise talking to the priest while they clean the benches. (fade out)

Scene 26

Church? midday

Louise gets up and takes a bow to the audience.(proud)

Louise walks off the stage into her prayer room.

The priest is standing at the cross.

Scene 27 

Church-midday

Louise walks towards the priest.

PRIEST

So are you meeting Erik tonight? (curious)

LOUISE

Yes, Father. I am. (happy)

PRIEST

Well my dear. You have earned this, come follow me.

The priest walks into another room while Louise follows.

The priest grabs an angel basket and hands it to

 Louise.

LOUISE

What’s that? (curious)

PRIEST

This is for you for all your hard work. I know I already gave you some food, but this is a bonus. Be safe and I’ll see you tomorrow. (proud)

Bishop

Priest, What are you doing?

Priest

Nothing, I just gave her a bonus and that’s all.

Bishop

O.K, well I hope that was all. Leave Louise

 alone.

Priest

Yes, sir.

Scene 28 

Waterfront-night

Louise is walking towards the bench. Louise has the angel basket in her left hand.

Louise puts the basket on the bench with the angel towards the camera.

Louise grabs the blanket and lays it on the

 ground.

Louise then goes to the basket, grabs it and puts it on the blanket.

Louise takes out her sandwiches and bottle water and lays it on top of the blanket.

She reaches into the bottom of the basket and grabs the candles and puts them around the

 blanket.

She grabs her lighter out of her pocket. (close up of Louise pulling out lighter) Louise starts lighting the candles all around the blanket.

As Louise lights the last candle and stands up, Erik comes up behind her and hugs Louise.

Louise turns her head as

 she is still in Erik’s arms.

LOUISE

I thought you wouldn’t come. (worried)

ERIKG

So did I, but my boss said I could come see you tonight if I do my work during the day. So I finished in time and now I can stay with you until dawn. Lucky, most people are sleep
